Is there any way to rent a house by bartering services?

rent my house
Like I’ve heard of people getting a house for very cheap because they promised to fix it up. I’m in the market for someplace really drop dead cheap, hopefully not a cheap apartment though. Or any other way to rent a house for cheap or free.
Thanks!
I know if you can get land, you can sometimes get a used mobilehome for the cost of moving it. My dad works with some mobilehome movers, so I’m hoping for rundown property to try that technique on.

yes but you should use a real estate agent to do that for you. That’s what I did when I leased my two-bedroom condo. We negotiated price based on things such as cable, hydro, window treatments, parking availability, locker….

I’m sure you can find deals out there for run down places. You’ll have to expect it to need a lot of fixing up though.

Unless you are a licensed contractor you can basically forget free. Check out the bank owned properties. They are despereate to get out, but they are usually looking to sell them not rent them.

There are some that would do a paint the house for a down payment type thing. You could try that. Good luck!

Those people who usually promise to fix the house up in exchange for lesser rent usually don’t follow through and end up evicted. Don’t assume you can get something for next to nothing just because someone else did. I don’t know any landlords nowadays with all the trouble with the market doing anything creative to get a renter.
