Whats the worst that can happen if you do housing benefit fraud in the UK?
I know some people doing housing benefit fraud where I live. I had some problems with them recently and was thinking of reporting them to the council.
I felt that might be a bit merciless. Am just wondering whats the worst that will happen to them if they do benefit fraud? will they simply pay be made to pay the benefit back or could it be worser?
I wouldnt want them to go to prison or get evicted.

Dependant on the severity of the fraud they would either get a suspended sentence or told to pay it back. At the end of the day – by not saying anything your only causing yourself to pay more tax. At the end of the day if you knew that one of your house mates had stolen something what would you do – it ads up to be exactly the same thing. Why should they be able to get away with it……. you work for your money, i work for my money and we pay our taxes – why should your house mate be any different??
