Poll: At what age do you feel?
a child’s allowance should be cut off?? See below article:
CALTAGIRONE, Italy – A 61-year-old man from Caltagirone, Italy, turned up at the local police station with his 81-year-old mother after she cut off his weekly allowance. The man’s mother also took his house keys away after he did not come home when he was supposed to and did not tell her where he was going when he went out, ANSA reported Thursday. The 81-year-old woman also went to police in an attempt to convince her “hard-headed” son to “behave correctly with his mama.” The son said his mother was the one behaving badly, adding, “My weekly allowance isn’t enough… and she doesn’t even cook well.” The mother told police: “My son doesn’t respect me, he never tells me where he goes at night and comes home at all hours.” She added: “I was forced to punish him by taking away his keys after he yet again came home late at night. And he always complains about my cooking.”
61 and still getting an allowance??

That’s…..weird. I’m 15 and I get an allowance. I think they should stop geting one when the kid gets any kind of job. (I don’t have a job).
May 16th, 2010 at 6:19 am
When they get a job (even if it’s working at Blockbuster or something). Or at least till they’re out of the house.

In this country it’s call a trust fund…..and some people get them until they die.

Well I think once the kid gets a job, then cut off allowance. But 61 years? 0.o

I am 13 and never got an allowance and never will. My mom expects me to keep my room clean and help her out around the house. I already babysit, so I make enough money on my own.

May 29th, 2010 at 3:00 am
That’s funny!!! Needless to say he won’t be getting married!! I think an allowance should stop when they get a job.
May 29th, 2010 at 10:37 am
when they are able to earn their own money fully. Not just part time stuff. Like 16/17
May 29th, 2010 at 2:42 pm
HAHA! I think it should be cut of around age 16.
May 30th, 2010 at 5:00 pm

My child stopped getting an allowance when they got a job. Sounds like she is allowing him to be dependent upon her. What has she taught him in life? What will happen to him when she dies?
June 5th, 2010 at 5:14 pm
Hahaha! I think once a kid graduates high school, he should either be in college or working full time. In either case, he should be responsible for his own spending money. In fact, if a high school student isn’t taking a super-tough course load or involved in after-school activities, he or she should be able to get a part-time job.

June 15th, 2010 at 6:05 am
Gee, they’re being a little hard on the guy, aren’t they? I’d give him a second chance, but only after an extensive “time out”.

You Should Cut Off A Childs Allowance As Soon As They Are Old Enough To Get A Job. If They Don’t Want A Job When They Are Old Enough That Is Their problem and cut their allowance anyway your child has to learn to make a good decision.

he should move out, but as soon as they are old enough to get a job, it should stop.
June 20th, 2010 at 1:58 am
THERE’S SOMETHING WRONG WITH BOTH OF THEM. Are they “CUT OFF” from the real world or what?! Momma letting a 61 year old man/son live with her and a 61 year old man/son still living at home?! They are both cracked.

That is crazy!!! 61 and getting an allowance. He needs to be kicked out of the house. He should have his own house and be saving for retirement by now. It sounds like the mom is the one that has created the situation by treating her son like a baby instead of a man. She is probably afraid to be by herself and thinks that if she does not give her son everything he wants that he will leave her by herself.

LOL that’s real funny!! I have 3 kids (ages 3,5 and 10) My plan is to keep giving them there allowance, of course it will increase as they get older, until they graduate from college. I will help them out after wards if they need it. Hopefully when my kids are in there 50′s – 70′s they will be financially set.
June 26th, 2010 at 6:46 am
wow thats crazy im 14 n i dont get allowence or anything
but the worst/creepy part is that hes 61 and living with his mom hasnt it been a long time since he should move out?
June 27th, 2010 at 11:41 am

July 2nd, 2010 at 11:20 pm
Before I could answer this I had to stop laughing, and it took a few minutes, I must admit!!
If certain chores are done, my son got an allowence until he started working (at 16) at the skating rink, where he also trained as an Olympic Speed and Hockey Skater. After that he no longer even expected an allowence, not did he have time for chores, due to school (he had to keep certain grades to remain on the team), practice, and work.
July 5th, 2010 at 4:19 pm
Damn! If that’s the way it’s supposed to work, my folks owe me a shitload in back allowances!!! I may have to get an attorney for this one.
July 7th, 2010 at 10:29 pm
That’s ridiculous lol. I got mine cut off once I got a job and my allowance wasn’t weekly, it was whenver I did work around the house like mowing the yard or weeding.
July 9th, 2010 at 9:41 pm
Now THAT is a mama’s boy. That goes beyond mama’s boy. I wonder if the police managed to keep a straight face…
