Is it true that when claiming housing benefit, we have to obtain the consent of the Landlord?
Some say yes but some say no. Is it true that the council will approach the landlord on the claiming of housing benefit?

yes unfortunately its true as they have to get the landlord to fill out the forms , basically to prove that you live in the house and you are paying the amount of rent you say you are paying. Also be careful that you answer all there questions.well thats the wat it is here in Ireland.

You claim the benefit, it is (or can be) paid to you to be forwarded to the landlord. Nothing to do with the landlord. As long as you pay your housing benefit to the landlord. S/he would only need to be involved if the benefit were to go straight to him/her. .
