if im on housing benefit, how many nights is my friend allowed to stay over?
My friend is homeless and stays between friends houses, I let him claim jobseekers allowance under my address and now theyre investigating me, Im on income support and housing benefit, how many nights is he allowed to stay?

It’s usually if the person is living there more than 50% of the time…you don’t want to risk losing your housing benefit, so I would suggest that you have him not use your address. Showing that he is receiving mail there, is enough for them to take away your benefits. Be careful and good luck!

How long he could stay over would be addressed in your lease. If it is not and you are accused of letting him move in, it will be up to you to prove otherwise. You allowed him to use your address for mail. He is now a legal occupant and you could lose your benefit.

All the way over here in Chicago, I can see it wasn’t a very good choice to have his mail come to your house.

I would be more worried about loosing your benefits then how many days a person can stay at the residence, you are already under investigation push it and you may loose your housing benefits
