I dont really have a ‘home’ town as such can you apply for housing benefit for any town?

housing benefit
I have been at university and am wondering whether i can stay in this area, or whether you have to give like a home address (eg. my parents) in order to qualify for housing benefit? Any advice please as i am currently living at my mums and feel in the way as its a really small house xx

You can’t apply for housing benefit unless you are paying rent on a property. Some councils have a list of landlords who will just accept the deposit on a property until your housing benefit comes through but you can’t claim money for rent unless you are actually paying some.

you should apply for benefits where you are currently living and intend to stay. you usually do that at your “residential” address, where you receive mail.
