Help with benefits?
my mother has just been awarded a BLUE BADGE for parking!!! i was wondering if anybody out there can tell me if she would be entitled to a parking bay outside her house (paid for by the local council), because she has no drive and parking is a real problem where she lives? She is 67 and only gets a state pension (no disability allowance or mobility etc…..) cheers…….

I think it’s very doubtful. What do you mean by a parking bay? Do you mean a dropped kerb? I doubt she’ll get any help unless she is claiming the higher rate mobility allowance.

Contact the Social Services dept at the town hall, they approved and issued the “blue badge” and should know the details.

Advice her to speak with a social worker, she can get a ‘disabled’ parking space painted on the road outside her house

She can apply for a parking permit that costs about 10 euro here but cause she’s over 60 she should be intitled to a space out side her house free of charge

if your mom lives on a main road or by a school the council should put her a line line outside her home. or ask the highway and tell them your mom is having problems parking outside her home also make sure you tell them your mom is disabled. i did it and they put a line outside my home and also put a drive on the front of my home . have a word with your mp. good luck

i doubt it, as to get a blue badge, your mother is suppose to have disability problems. and she is is receiving no disability allowance, she wont get a disabled parking space outside your House- but you could ask your local council. but if you lived where i live, the answer would be no.
as someone has already asked, i dont understand how your mother got a blue badge!

you are entitled to a marked bay outside your house to prevent other people taking your space you first port of call is the social services where you live and if they decide you can have one the council will do the marking accordingly.
as someone as already stated you can also ask for a dropped kerb and a parking space being provided on your front garden if circumstances allow this to be done.
in most places there is a considerable waiting list for the latter the marking out of the bay can be done within weeks.
she will not be entitled to claim motabilty allowance because it as to be claimed before you reach the age of 65.
she can however claim attendance allowance and carers allowance which equates to the same amount approx

You still apply for a parking bay on the road outside your property, You do not need disability allowance, but you must remember that the bay is not strictly for the person who asked for the council to set the bay anyone with a blue badge can use that bay.
