Do letting agents check to see if new tenants are on housing benefit?
I am thinking of letting a new flat.
I am currently renting privately and i am on housing benefit.
However i wish to move to another private let but so many agents say no hosuing benefit or dss.
I just wondered what would happen if i just didnt mention it?
Are there standard checks they can carry out with the council or anything to make sure any potential tenants arent on benefits?
Thanks to anyone that knows.

Their is no law that a landlord to accept Hosing benefits or assistance..Some chose not to participate.. It would be wrong of you not to mention it,,,,and if he suspects and contacts the agency he can void your Lease and evict you…. In a case like this failure to mention your benefit is the same is being dishonest if the agency or landlord chooses not to be involved
